[Cordovan Leather by ROCADO in Tuscany, Italy]
This cordovan is made from horsehide tanned slowly with vegetable tannins, then the cordovan layer is scraped from within, resulting in a single-layer material with no grain surface. The dense fiber structure, polished one by one by artisans, gives it a distinctive charm that can only be experienced with cordovan's refined color and luster. The surface may show pinholes or cordovan-specific uneven waves, which are inevitable characteristics from the horse's sweat glands on its hindquarters. This cordovan is proof of genuine craftsmanship, finished without unnecessary processing, allowing the natural transparency of the dye to shine through. The interior leather, made from custom-mixed tanned cowhide by Sanyo, a traditional tanner in Himeji, is matched in the same color as the cordovan, allowing you to enjoy the aging process both inside and out.
